Orbituary: An Unofficial Brindlewood Bay Mystery

WATCH OUT FOR THE KILLER COMET....

Brindlewood Bay has been abuzz with activity all week for one reason only: A passing of the ‘Killer Comet’  has been projected to occur on the same day as the peak of the Perseids meteor shower, making for a spectacular solar show the likes of which haven’t happened in hundreds of years.  While the Perseids happen every year, showering mid-august back to school nights in shimmery specks, The Killer Comet only passes by every twelve years - and unfortunately, it lives up to its name.

Gossip swirls, as it often does, about what might happen this year as vendors, grievers, and science-fiction believers pour into town, boosting the tourist trade and potential body-count at county-appointed viewing grounds.  

The mavens have been invited, both by frequent candlelight bookstore customer Hikari Hoshino - and by the current-day relative of the deceased established in the earlier question, to attend a private event away from the tourist-infested pier.  But when the killer comet claims Hikari as the next victim, accusations churn between those who watched her die - and the Mavens have a case to solve.

This scenario has a complexity of 8, making it a great late-game mystery - since it's local, feel free to slot in your favorite pesky NPC or reveal a midwife or two :)
